Here are some tips when you shop for custom paint: A- Demand a written long term warranty (at least 5 years) against common paint problems such as; peeling, lifting, cracking, fading, bubbling & yellowing effect. Poor quality custom paint fails usually after 2-3 years, this is why most shops refuse to offer a longer written warranty!! If your painter even hesitates in giving you a 5 year written warranty, isn't this a clear sign that he knows his paint job will fail before 5 years?
B- Demand a written delivery time guarantee (with money back) to make sure you get your parts back within the promised time. C- Make sure your painter can ducument at least 15 years of experience in custom painting (this is very important, if you want to make sure he will get it done right the first time). D- Demand a show quality finish and do not settle for just a good or excellent quality ! What is show quality finish? In a show quality finish there are no evidence of orange peel effect on the surface of paint and there are no dirt particles or lint mixed with the paint (dirty shop enviornment & tools), there should be no swirl marks or fine scratches on the surface or background. To know how a show finish paint job should look like; you can ask the judges at the next show. Or simply look for a genuine Colormania paint job. E- Never look for a cheap paint job, because nothing is worse than a poor quality paint on a nice bike. It is better to wait and save some $$ for a show quality finish, than to decorate your bike with dull paint.
